Hello everyone! Many of these bottles have found their way onto other threads and posts here, but I figured it would be easiest to make one big thread and continually update it as I plan on visiting this site A LOT throughout the course of this year! This particular site holds two dumps - one...
Insulators are certainly not a topic I'm particularly knowledgeable and I'd like to eventually learn more about I.D.'ing them. Currently I just end up taking any insulator that I find that's in good shape, and these two came back from my adventures of the last summer. Any help confirming the...
I know I'm a day or two late, but it's a busy time. Wanted to share some of my finds from this year - only my second year digging, and the first spending much of the summer researching and digging my way through these finds. Below are some of my best finds from the year - both bottles and other...
Couldn't pass picking up the A.G. Van Nostrand as part of a deal for a few things, and will set next to the Continental Brewing Co. bottle I found in the creek earlier this year. Both have beautiful bubbling, though the Van Nostrand is much larger.
I've found a good amount of information about...
Well, after a nasty injury this week at the dump (a nice deep gash in my hand), taking some time to look over some of my finds from this year. Dug this up from a river site with mainly 1920s and early 1930s items (bottles dated to 1926, license plates to 1930-32), and it's definitely different...
Was visiting the pair of dumps I've gone to all summer, and was in the older section - mainly 1920s and 1930s trash that was dumped over a no longer extant bridge into the river below; changes in its height and depth have placed a ton of the items in the walls of the current riverbanks and some...
The latest trip to this dump (generally 1920s-1930s it seems) didn't produce as many whole items (tons of broken pieces), but still some nice finds!
This is the first *almost* whole piece of crockery that I've found, and the design on it is pretty killer. From what I can tell the horns are...
Been a few days since I found these, but finally getting around to posting. These are from two rivers - the I.C.U. Whiskey is from a more local creek that was recently flooded (part of a dam reconstruction project), and all of the others are from a larger river near where the 40s-60s dump I...
I've posted about this dump before, and this is likely to be my main one for the rest of the year. While it is newer than what most would be considered worth their time, I've found a number of license plates and great mid-century bottles; even if they're not worth much they still display pretty...
These are a mix of river walking finds and dump digs from the past month; the dump was used from about 1947 (could be as early as about 1940) to 1962, when the town moved it to a different location. Most people don't take bottles from that time period, but I enjoy the hunt and look for anything...
Looks like it was for a somewhat local extracts company (based in Portland, ME), and I assume hung on the outside of the building. The buildings where this was found burned around the turn of the 20th century, though I’m not sure on the age of this sign.
