Ok, I'm too lazy to get out the digital camera - maybe tomorrow. I went on my first digs ever - 2 weeks ago and today - at a nearby home construction site and found a bunch of bottles, most relatively self-explanatory. I have a question about one. About 7" tall, 1-1/2" diameter, almost a perfect cylinder, with about a 1-1/2" stretch just below the rim that is about 1/4" narrower. It has the remnants of a paper label, white w/ blue, red, and gold writing - I think one of the words is "united"....I know this is dumb without a pic, but my camera's upstairs and I'm SO lazy..
TIA,
Lara

After the last post, I found another, slightly larger. I'll try posting pictures.

Hey Lara, they are generally known as capers bottles although the may have held small onions and the like. They are fairly common and come in several colors. Kinda neat to have in a collection because most people don't know what capers are.

Thank you!

I love capers. And cocktail onions. And pretty much anything pickled or in brine.

Thanks for the links-
are you in MA? (maybe a stupid question, but I was in Orlando last week and evidently they call the suburbs that, too). I live in Worcester.
