Hi All!
I was wondering if anyone may know the name of this pattern?
It is blown molded glass decanter with an open pontil mark.
On the front it has 2 entwined serpents that meet together for a kiss. (lol) and inbetween them is the word GIN. The rest of the bottle has arches with ferns?
Any and all comments, questions, and Help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
Sandy

Hi Sandy,

I've searched and I can't find anything. This pattern isn't in the New England Glass Co. (Sandwich) catalog from 1869, but that would make sense as this is a much earlier style anyway.

It looks real though; I don't think it's a reproduction. If I were you I would try sending your question to Jeff Noordsy at:

jeffnhol@together.net

He and his wife are among the top experts on New England glass and they may be able to help.

Thanks so much Sean!

My eyes were going crossed searching for this pattern. I did recieve an e-mail from someone who gave me a litle info on it. (but not the pattern)
I listed it on ebay. (UH-OH!)...I may need to revise it now....LOL!

I will e-mail Jeff asap!

Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

Hi Sandy,

You also might try a PM to tncgal (Brenda) she is really up on EAPG patterns as well as china and pottery marks. She posts occasionally on this site as well. Just a suggestion.

Sandy, your decanter is shown in Ruth Webb Lee's Sandwich Glass Handbook, Plate 49, but no pattern name is given. The time period is given as 1830-1840 and Plate 48 shows fragments of this decanter as excavated at Sandwich. I'll see if I can find info for you in other books. Here is picture of the complete decanter with stopper.

American Glass lists it as "Arch and Fern with Snake Medalion" the G.IV-7 they show says RUM. Plate 104, text on pg 271. It says it's the most widely known of type IV.
