Thanks man! You've got some real wizard skills in identifying finds!Wow, that's got to be some of the most confusing cursive I've ever seen on a bottle. For some inexplicable reason they alternated between upper case and lower case letters pretty much at random, and were totally inconsistent in the letter sizing. Maybe a mold-cutter trying to copy a nearly-illegible signature? I did figure it out though, through the use of old NYC directories - Peter Hoykendorf, listed in the 1881 directory as operating at 1st Ave. & E. 50th St. https://archive.org/details/phillipsbusiness00newy/page/188/mode/2up In 1900 he leased a store at 636 Park avenue: https://rerecord.library.columbia.edu/pdf_files/ldpd_7031148_025_13.pdf That store didn't last long though, because he died on March 12, 1901: https://archive.org/details/deathsreportedin1901newy/page/156/mode/2up?q=hoykendorf
Thanks! Mostly just comes down to knowing which terms to Google, or in this case which directories to look in.Thanks man! You've got some real wizard skills in identifying finds!
