I found a trash dump more than 20 years ago after moving to New York and dug there 6 or 7 times (maybe more, you'd have to ask my wife ), with about 500 bottles and jars gathered. I also dug a backyard household trash site from a house dating to the 1700's one time. Between those digs, and a few that were bought or gathered through other means, I had about 700 bottles and jars. Before a recent move, I had to throw away about 200 clear and uninteresting bottles and jars, and then once moved, sold off some Mason jars and gave away a bunch of jars, leaving me with around 400? (I need to add them all up) bottles, and a few jars, but MANY had not been washed. Most everyone here knows that the least fun aspect of bottle hunting/digging is the cleaning! I dreaded cleaning them so much that I tried to sell off a large batch, but nobody was interested, even though it was about 50-cents a bottle (for about 150 of them). I finally decided to just tackle the task a few at a time, and last week, I finished! Photos are of the two main places I have them. The space between studs on unfinished walls are easily converted to bottle shelves! I also bought a little wall case for a bunch of my favorite "minis". I would love to see how others have their collections on display (or, like mine were, in boxes for decades ) Several of mine aren't even old, but if I like the look, I'll keep it. (there is a '70s era Michelob bottle somewhere in there, possibly just out of view )
