I now have several bottles, including the one pictured, for which I have not seen another example, nor can I find another example online or in print.

Have you seen another example of this bottle?

CASWELL, MASSEY & CO. NEW YORK AND NEWPORT
BIM, tooled top, 8 1/4" tall, 16 oz, made by Whitall Tatum circa 1880.

Beautiful bottle! I remember seeing bottles from that company posted on here before, but not that one specifically, and I can't find another example online.

Caswell, Massey is interesting because they still sometimes produce some very convincing antique-looking bottles. If I came across that cobalt blue pot on the left out of context I don't think there would be any doubt in my mind that it wasn't from the early 20th century.

Please Note: This bottle should NOT be confused with the much more common Caswell Hazard and Caswell Mack blue bottles.

Nice bottle! I have a couple of the Caswell Massey cobalts in this style, I'd consider them to be scarce. I have never seen one in that size though so I'd say it's pretty rare! Below is a picture of one of mine. These date from 1901-circa 1910, as is says W.T. Co., not W.T. & Co. They changed the trademark in 1901.

On another note, just because you cannot find a bottle online or in a book doesn't necessarily make them valuable or highly sought after. I've dug and bought over 1,500 unlisted RI bottles (size, color, embossing variants, or brand new bottles). The average price for the ones I bought was $5-20. The cobalt Caswell Masseys are fairly common if they just say New York, the NY and Newport ones seem to sell in the $40-50 range for the smaller sizes.
