Hello,
I have a pre-air cleaner for an antique tractor. It has a lid on the unit that accepts a 1/2 pint perfect mason jar, that serves as a jar that collects air debris as a filter.

The threads for the jar look clean, and I have removed the paint from them. However, I cannot get the jar to thread more than half way on. It is supposed to go all the way on.
The threads on the jar are clean.
Has anyone ever used a form or something to rethread or reshape lids for wide mouth mason jars?

Thanks for your help

I have noticed that all old jar lids are not created equal, it seems certain lids fit certain jars better than others, even though they look the same.
