What do you guys think of my Crush finds? They have all been found in the woods. I could probably clean the cans up some more. If anyone has any information they would like to share please do. Also the clear Crush was hanging upside down from the roof of one of the collapsed cabins at a logging camp. It still has the wire attached to it. My best guess is that it was used as a fly/bug trap, but I could be wrong. What do you guys think?

I like that Sugar Free Orange Crush. That's a tough one. Sure wish I could clean those for you. Leon.

for somebody new to cleaning & if you want easy fast access to cleaner use Lemon Juice. which is pretty much the same as Citrus Acid. Leon.

Wow yeah those flat tops are in fantastic shape! Did you find those under a house or something? Not at all easy to find flat tops in that shape these days, and looks like the rarest one is in the best condition by far, doesn't often seem to work out that way does it!

I know, I got really lucky with that sugar free. Usually when I find flat top cans they are so far gone that I can't even see what it was. They were all covered with a thin layer of oil, grease or something which probably protected them. I have another can that I can't show right now because I don't have it with me, but it's one from the 70s. I guess that family really liked Crush for many years. They were found right behind a collapsed cabin and a book about the area talks about who lived there. I will definitely be going back sometime this year to look for more.

Yeah you should definitely go back there and do a thorough look for more cans! That's interesting about the oil, never heard of that happening before.

Also, for the lemon juice, you just soak the can in it and gently rub the rust off with your finger once it starts to dissolve. Don't apply much pressure because the steel will have been structurally weakened by the rust. Shouldn't take too long for a can with such good paint as that sugar-free Crush, maybe 12 hours of soaking or so? Just a rough guess though because I haven't done it in years. It's best to practice with newer cans first. I wouldn't rush any cleaning of the sugar-free one, the paint is already in great condition, but like Leon said an acid soak will definitely improve it quite a bit.
