Hello!

About 15 years ago, when I was in high school, I was a frequent participant of this fine forum. It was an important community for me. However, with college, career, family - I’ve stepped away from actively collecting.

The focus of my collection was on the soda bottling plant of Williamston, Michigan, and I had even interviewed a former employee to collect some information. In order to make that information accessible, I finally decided to write up a history of the company, and it’s turned into quite a project - likely a small book.

There are still some mysteries surrounding the company’s bottles and products, so on the off-chance that you, my soda-collecting brethren (or your friends) might have something I haven’t seen from Williamston, MI, I am reaching out. Please share what you have in your collection or what you may know. Pictured below are the bottles, caps, and boxes I have from Williamston.

Golden Glow Mineral Water began around 1932 and sold water in 2-quart bottles. I have never seen one. The 7 oz bottle has a 1938 date and may have contained different flavors. I have never seen a cap for this product.

I have a 1946 Hunters Beverage bottle from the “Golden Glow Spring Water Co” and bottles from 1947, 1948, 1949 from “Hunters, Inc.” I have the caps pictured below from Hunters Inc. I believe there is a Lemon Lime cap but have never seen one. The Dixie Dew bottle (1953) and cap are from Hunters Inc.

I also have the cardboard box pictured below dated 1948 that held 6 quart-size bottles of Hunters Club. I can find no record of this bottle, but I have a photo of a delivery truck with a mystery bottle that may be what I’m looking for. Has anyone heard of or seen a quart-sized Hunter’s bottle?

There was a short-lived franchise in Prestonsburg, KY. They tried to put out a product called Poker Kola (mentioned on the back of the 1947 bottle), but quickly changed names to the Brown Bottling Works on the 1948 bottle. Anything you have or know about this company would be helpful.

The company changed hands in 1955. Both O-So bottles and the Squirt bottle are dated 1953. I have the one O-So cap pictured, but would love to see any other flavor caps you may be able to track down.

I strongly believe that Mason’s Root Beer and Nesbitt’s Orange (possibly other brands), were bottled in Williamston. Whether there are bottles or caps bearing the town name, I do not know.

I know this is a very specific and niche request, but if you could please pass this along to any Michigan collectors you may know, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Interesting, never seen the Dixie Dew. The Hunters ACL from Williamston seem pretty common. never seen a quart size. But seen lots of Mineral Waters from Michigan in Half Gallon so would not be surprised if one did come from Williamston. Leon.
