The way things seem to go is that I find things in my travels, think they're neat and buy them
not really knowing what they are. I've bought what I thought was native pottery years ago
whilst I was looking for viking red ware.... (these pics are old so be kind)

Not native, thought maybe Roman at one time...actually Anglo-Saxon incised red clay pot from
500 AD...made a great catch all...maybe I should rethink this...BTW Vikings were Angles, Jutes and
Saxons.

Was looking for more pre-Columbian pottery to add to my collection and got this...then it was deemed
to be of English origin and maybe Roman influences. The torque being held led me to think Celt...
just discovered that although it has Roman influences as suspected, the torque is being held as a
divination tool, which was Anglo-Saxon. The Romans used spirits for divination called Djinn, which
although appeared to be of middle eastern origin actually predated Arabic legends. These spirits were
eventually called Genies. This is a 5th century Anglo-Saxon "Genie" bottle....where's that cork gone?? ;)
