Elixir of opium

Hi all, new to the forum. here is a nice one I found a couple of months ago diggin', and thought I would share it. Its mabey 4" tall, seam runs up to bottom of the neck, and appears to have a tooled lip. It is embossed "Dr McMunns Elixir of Opium" . there are some bubbles and imperfections and a small chip out of the lip. I wasnt sure if this was common or what. The dump I dug it from contained mostly mid 1800 bottles, but I wasnt sure of the exact age either. thanks for looking, and happy diggin' -J

That one looks like it might date from the 1880s.
Its a fairly common medicine but is made a bit more collectible because the narcotic collectors buy them.

Great Find.... I have three McMunn bottles that I have purchased in the past. One has a label that was found while tearing down a wall in a house near Fort Ti in NY. I was told it was just one of many that was found in that wall. The other two I have are open pontils. I would like the older thin lip pontil but the ones Ive had a chance to buy alway have a piece of lip broken off. I love these opuim bottles and they seem to sell well on ebay.
