Well I have been forming a small sub-collection of colored pontiled meds so when that Roberts Vegetable Embrocation hit Ebay I just gasped, turned off all financial common sense and bagged it. It wasn't cheap but then again, I believe the color to be possibly unique. Guess that's the world record price for one of these now! I now have a Brinckerhoff's Health Restorative, Gibbs Bone liniment and this little fellow. What a color and a fresh find for the hobby by a guy that found it in a box lot of bric-a-brac at a local flea market!

Great bottle!
Hopefully you didn't have to mortgage the old homestead to get it.
Interesting pontil scar there.

Yeah it's an unreal color. No auction record of anything like it. I paid a pretty penny but I have a healthy financial slush fund to use towards investing in super examples. I don't know what this bottle would have done with Heckler,American Glass Gallery or Glassworks auctions but I've seen some crazy prices going well over 20 grand on some colored meds so I may have got a bargain by grabbing it on Ebay. It's not a big bottle but it's a pontiled med in a color I've never seen for this embossing so I just bit like a Sunfish on a worm! Getting harder to find better meds under 10 G's. Johnny M.

Its a beauty and looks even better in your photos than the photos on eBay. Congrats!
Thanks. I figure money comes and goes but some bottles you may never see again. I got popped by a sniper bid on a Coverts Balm of Life and a Skerretts oil and almost missed this by another snipe. Finally brought home the bacon but paid like it was steak! LOL. Johnny M. :)

Great buy! You saying the seller found it at a flea market?

Hey, the fleas always have the potential to be an outlet branch of the barn/basement /attic museum. (At bargain prices.) ;)

Yeah. He bought a box lot of some sort with an eye on a thing or two I suppose that primarily interested him for resale and when unpacking it all found the old bottle. He learned it had a pontil mark and put it on Ebay where he sells stuff. I don't recall where he opened the bids but probably low. I stumbled on it searching pontiled bottle and added to my watch list. Somewhere along the line I decided to play hardball and treat myself. I got lucky because a guy sniped it for about 200 less than my max at the end! All in all it's been worth it and a great addition to the hobby where it belongs. This bottle has rarely sold for over 3 or 4 hundred bucks at most it seems but thus color likely makes it the cadillac of known colored examples. At least to me anyway. It set me back a few bucks but I'd rather have the bottle than the money at the end of the day. Johnny M.

Thanx. I guess if you wanna break your piggy bank you can land a piece or two now and again. It's amazing how bottles are still generally affordable to guys who dig deep. Compare them to paintings and the like. People pay 100 MILLION or more for a painting that's the size of a piece of notebook paper and looks like a monkey was playing with a paint brush or a guy was tripping on LSD and drawing twisted geometric shapes! LOL Johnny M. :)
