Rubbing my eyes and wondering if I am deluding myself.

So I was scouring though FeeBay for deals. Pepsi to be exact. Nothing
new there. Been doing this since my new found re-interest in bottles.

There is absolutely nothing to be found on large drum bottles. I know they
exist as I've seen one in a collectors guide years ago. My dating on caps
and bottles were off a bit tho. The redesigned drum and peanut bottles
are in the very late 1920s to the early 30s. But the green caps are earlier
than I thought. The "DRINK" format are too early for drums or peanuts
by only about a year or so. Maybe that's why the cap looked wrong on
those bottles. It's like when I see a word spelled wrong. It bugs me.

The ultra expensive orange caps are for the earlier 1920s bottles and
scarce as hell. ($700 bucks for a cap...too rich for me!)

The Great Depression must have shut down a lot of bottlers. The old fangled
caps from the late twenties were pretty much the same as the earlier types.
But the dying years of the roaring twenties were all about change. No one
expected the stock market to crash! Out with the old (logos) and in with the
new!

Now I was caught by surprise. I've had almost every incarnation of a Pepsi
bottle so finding one from such a narrow era is tough, but hey, I'm picky
you know. I was convinced that the drum or peanut was the right bottle
based on a sign I saw. But I was fooled. The cap is only shown from the side.

I overlooked this one...never had one.
Never saw it as an important bottle.

The change up in logo was very short lived and perfect timing for my cap.
They went from script to block and then just before the drum and peanut
they had this odd hybrid. It was half script and half block. It was right at the
end of my bargain hunting range of $100 US (shipped) too. I even had one
replica label squirrelled away. It's on the way as I write.!

Thanks Uncle Bruce...I did that just now and its one of the drums I've had in the past.
Not to reinvent the wheel but these don't go with my cap either...the mystical 24-26 oz
variety has sadly become a ghost and not meant to be.
