Hello Everyone. I hope it's OK I post this strange item here. It's been a while since I have been on the site. Some time back, years actually, I posted this rather odd jug on the site to see if anyone may know what it is, but it had folks scratching their heads, though some did offer some ideas and possibilities. I was told it may have been an old jug that ladies filled with hot water to help keep warm while riding in sleighs and such back in the day. I have been told it may have been a field jug that farmers used as a kind of canteen while out in the field (I don't believe that one...too elaborate and fragile for such a use). Any ideas?. I am not sure what it is made of. Looks to be some sort of pottery or crock. No writing of any kind. I don't know how old, but it's been in the family since the 1940s or 50s. It's one odd duck. You can see the little spout and the bigger spout. Maybe it had a ceremonial use. I don't know.
Thanks much everyone and have a happy day.
