Hello all, not gonna lie I’m not a collector of bottles. I do come across quite a few in my travels and have questions about when I get into a pinch with researching said bottles. Like this one…

It has markings underneath that read DES PAT 178,917 then AT-1185 then 77 an O with an I inside, then 59. I looked it up logos match not sure on manufacturer and don’t know when they made it and for what. I think it’s Advertising Memorabilia used for display and I’m sure a limited amount was made… going off of similar posting led iv came across. Anybody has any more information I can sure use it. I’m about to throw it up on eBay‘s auction. I like all the information I can get on it. Thank you

The mark on the bottom is for Owens Illinois glass company. If the 59 is to the right of the mark, that would mean that it was made in 1959. It looks bigger than most bottles. I don't think I can help any more. It's really neat though.

There's some red text between the logos that states the contents are an artificially colored solution, so I'm going to guess that it is an advertising piece.

Hello,
The PAT DES (Patent Design) number can usually be found by a search on the GOOGLE PATENTS website.
For instance, here is the page on that patent:

That refers to the standard "PEPSI BOTTLE" design with the gently curving ribbing on the lower part of the bottle. Although it doesn't give any specific info on your particular bottle. But that design was patented in October of 1956, and the term the patent was in effect for 14 years.

The "I inside an O" was the standard trademark used by Owens-Illinois Glass Company beginning in 1954 and continuing for several decades thereafter. It was marked on billions of glass bottles. (Currently, Owens-Illinois-made bottles carry an "O-I" trademark.)

Also, I want to add that Owens-Illinois bottles are NOTORIOUS for having codes that don't seem to "fit the narrative". There is SO MUCH confusion on reading O-I bottles, and especially those made for Pepsi and Coke!

If that is indeed a "77" to the left of the logo, then it could Not be a plant location code, as no plant carried the number 77 as far as I can tell. Unless it is a "17" ??? which would indicate the Clarion, Pennsylvania plant.
The "AT" might mean their Atlanta, GA plant, but that's only a guess.
