Wasn't sure where to post this as although there are bottles here, there are other
examples of red ware etc. as well. These are from my English collection. Canada as you
probably know was once a colony of England. (So was the USA) Once in a while English
items made it here through immigrants (as early as colonial times).

1) Cornish stone ware ship
2) British stone ware bottle
3) English red ware pottery shard
4) Celtic red ware face jug *
5) Celtic stone ware effigy **

Once again the images aren't
that great but getting better.

The Celtic pieces were the hardest to research. Barry Cunliffe's book, "The Ancient Celts"
proved quite useful.

* When the Romans left England in the fifth century, the remaining Celts fashioned their pottery
after Roman face pottery. At first I thought it was Pre-Columbian, but the British couple
hosting the garage sale insisted that it was dug up in Cornwall. It all makes sense now.

** Much of Celtic England was pagan up until after the Crusades. The hare was an important
symbol for fertility.

(of course the flag is hand made of British origin but that's not a bottle is it?)
