I recently acquired this ship in a bottle in an estate sale auction and am trying to learn more about it. I have attached pictures, but the patina in the bottle makes for less than clear pictures.
The bottle has a greenish tint and was made in a mold (there is a spot where the glass leaked out of the mold at the seam). The bottle has several large air bubbles in it and is likely early 1900s, if not earlier. The makers mark is the letters CMVP arranged around a diamond shape. I have not been able to locate the bottle's makers mark on a US site that I am using, so I am thinking maybe the bottle is European?

Any information or ideas on where to find the information would be appreciated!

I don't recognize the mark either, could be from almost anywhere really (except North America). It's hard to guess age by the style of manufacture without knowing what country it's from, but to me looks like something from roughly the mid 20th century or so. Some places continued making fairly crude-looking bottles long after the US stopped.

Dad bought one just like it in Soest, Germany in the 1950s. They were custom made and often
included an option to woodburn a name on the bow of the ship. Ours said "Patrix" after my Mom.
They used old wine bottles so yes, its European.
Thanks. Just curious, did the one your dad bought have sails on the ship?
