The Missus had me land-locked for a ( admittedly stellar ) trip through France for two weeks, where no diving was planned :( ( I found one delicious river that in all likelihood contained ancient treasures ) :p, but alas, I remained high n' dry.

So...second day back home & I'm racing for the river! Found a machine-made soda quart, a ( scarce ) "Calcutt Brewing and Malt Co." beer with a hand-finished top ( with that oh-so-classic "Ladies- Leg" neck ) and a black glass bottle, somewhat unique ( for me, anyway ) base, showing what looks to me as hand-scribed figures, spelling "S & C".

Anyone ever seen a similar inscription on the base of a bottle, black or otherwise?

Great finds! I don't remember ever seeing that Calcutt before. Interesting pictorial on it too!
Hey CB! Yes indeed, this is the 2nd one I've found and my bottle-diving buddies have a few as well; they're a fairly scarce version to locate. There is also a blob-top version which is quite rare; I've picked up a few shards of them over the years, but I'll keep looking for a whole one - you can be assured of that!

A fellow collector posted a pic of these b-top Peterborough beers...
