Most of that stuff is newer and will generate little interest from collectors. But it doesn't mean you cant start collecting yourself! I'd say grab as much glass as you can before it gets filled in a again. That co op bottle was probably the nicest out of the bunch.

keep the pics coming!

Oh! It's always being cross that gives it away!

To be honest I'm not sure what I'm finding. There's this big lake thing that's been there forever and it's now being drained, and it is just so full of stuff. A lot of bottles, a bit of a train, cracked safes, just everything. I've got no idea about dates or anything, it's all just stuff that's been chucked in there at some point or another. I don't think there will be anything really special as I do think it's all just things thrown in over the years but there is just so much of it! And I don't want to leave it all there to be filled in again as you never know, there might be some treasure, or at least a lot of recycling!

As it's quite slippery and I keep sinking into the mud and stuff I've only been picking up what's right next to me, and yesterday was the first time I had a good chance to get there. I just wanted to see what people thought I should do before I came home with arms full of Stella bottles. I've put a few pictures up, but other than the Saxons ones there aren't many of the same thing, everything is different. It's just the most confusing thing I've ever seen!

There is still a lot of water to come out too, so I'm hoping there will be some great stuff at the bottom!

Thank you all so much for your help!

Oh, also, there are a lot of bottles with 'Saxons Wolverhampton'

Hello Emma,

Welcome to the A-BN, and thanks for telling us of your bottle gathering opportunity.

First thing, be safe, have a friend along, or make sure Mum or someone knows you are playing in the mud. This Site may be a help to you in identification. Good luck in your recoveries...

Is the Saxon a "T. Saxon," and is it a stoneware bottle? See Here, and here's another Description of one.

I assume they are talking about a CODD bottle with marble as stopper in top. See pic below. Don't forget to keep any old rusty beer cans you may find. I collect those, escecially the cone shaped ones & flat tops that needed to be opened with can opener. LEON.

They're not like those no, they're clear glass. I can't find anything on them, I just thought it would be nice to get a few bits from the area, and a bit about what the are etc.

I've been down there again now, and just taken a few pictures of the entire thing and some examples of just how many bottles there are. I don't really mind if there's nothing amazing it would just be nice to get a few bits for myself really. It's quite good fun I think [:)]
