In 1986 Coca-Cola made a big goof. They reformulated Coke and opened the
door to many a competitor. Cott Corporation bought the Kik formula. The
generic Cott Cola was great tasting and an excellent value. I know. It was
at least as good as Coke and maybe even better compared to the New Coke.

The same year, Cott made a deal with RC Cola in the US. Cott Cola disappeared.
Dave Nicholls of Loblaws needed a new cola formula to compete with Coke.
PC Cola was born. It used the old Kik formula, which was by the way, based on
the Delatour formula used to make Kent's Coca-Cola in 1884. Two years before
Pemberton of Coca-Cola fame. PC Cola tastes great and is half the price of Coke.

Is it a coincidence that Pemberton copied a coca wine from France?

I will have to try President's choice now. I've never had it before, but now I'm curious what it tastes like. Do you think it's still the kik formula today?

Hard to say. I think so. By the time I was old enough to try the real Kik it was so badly watered down it tasted like ink, however, its very good, but different from Coke.

looks like the Kik name was kept by Cott and sold to Sri Lanka
but the formula definitely lives on in PC Cola!!!

No surprise that they both bombed...

The Kik Cola resurrected by Cott has different ingredients,
including aspartame...yuk.

The PC Cola has the "swill" factor I that remember!

from what I can see its name died in Montreal and then failed in Sri Lanka ...so "Kik" is gone...

but the recipe lives on. The same thing happened 100+ years ago...Coca-Cola became
the brand for Asa Candler but the recipe survived in Koca-Nola, Celery-Cola and others
like Diva Brown...
