soooo....maybe bottle collection craze is back! Boy the prices have jumped!
Probably a good thing. Back to basics I guess.

Feeling nostalgic...I moved to Ottawa in 1971 after spending most of my life
in the prairies. Out there you could dig pottery shards and arrow heads for
fun. Ottawa was a different story. No digging without a permit. I was just a
kid. Permit Schmermit...I watched for excavations in the fast growing city.

My very first find was a Kik bottle. It sat half buried in the dirt of a foundation
hole for the new canoe club on Hogsback. Kik? Never hear of it. All the old
timers did, though.

After collecting and selling and collecting and selling for about 50 years,
bottles and I parted ways. I kept a seltzer from NYC called America Dry.
It inspired me to search out the very first Kik bottle priced at 3 cents. I
had the cap after all. You know the story by now. Sold all the bottles and
was gifted with the very bottle I was looking for but it was marked America
Dry of Canada...the parent company a new soft drink in 1936. Kik.

Thanks to the internet I have bought my first bottle in years. Lol its the same
Kik bottle I found in 1971. Hope this hasn't started a trend.
