In the late 1930s, and their expansion into the foreign markets during WW2, the
Pepsi marketing folks came up with some very innovative ideas. Some of these items
hit test markets and were either further developed or dumped. Here's examples!
Many of their ideas were to outbid Coke's monopoly over wartime supplies to the
troops. I've seen wartime dumps as far as Japan with both Coke and Pepsi bottles.

#1) Dumped...who had a can opener on the front?

#2) Marketed...bottle openers were more common

#3) Dumped...made Pepsi look weird

#4) Dumped in US and left for foreigners. #5) Used all over the wartime and post war ships

That first flat top Pepsi can has got to date to 1949 at earliest. that Pepsi cone top is 1948. Coke experimented with cone top cans in the late 30's. Due to war time restrictions called order M81 very little Beer or Beverage cans were produced for Civilian use during the war (1942-1945) except Olive Drab Camouflage cans for the Military. at least here in U.S.A. Don't know what rules or regulations Canada had. Leon.
