I found this ink bottle, looked up the name on it and only found type writers, was just wondering if any one had a link where i can look up underwoods ink, sorry I'm real new at all this
Welcome to the forum. I found this one on ebay, it's a little simliar to yours. Sorry I can't help you out more. I'm sure some of our ink collectors on here will know.
Keith dont be sorry about asking, if you dont ask you'll never know! Ahhhhh my favorite subject inks ! Here are a couple underwoods from my collection, they are usually available from $5.00-$100 not real high end but a challenge to collect them all! The ones with a label usually will fetch the most dollars as the paper quality was poor and not many have not survived The address for the company in 1903 was 143-149 Grand Avenue, Brooklyn, New York Taz
Covill lists the following numbers for Underwood: 78, 330, 331, 332, 333, 562, 598, 913, 914, 915, and 916. Yours looks to be C-331. No idea of a value, but they are fairly common so I would guess around $10.
Thank you all so much , this place is awwwwsome , I'm so glad I stumbled on this place. Another question tho , what is a pontil ?
thanks again
have a great day all
And this is not a pontil, but just a dent in the bottom of the bottle that is inherent in the mold. This bottle by the way is one that I saw on ebay and snatched the picture of, I only wish it had been mine It went for $1000+
